What can I use as a coffee table?
My wife and I have sold our table set (dining, coffee and end) and are trying to think of some "out of the box" ideas for things to use as a coffee table... Our style lately has been kind of antiquey, but we'd like something of a conversation piece (but still functional) for the living room. To give you an idea of where we're considering going with this, we've already looked at an antique wooden chicken cage and an old wood luggage trolley from a hotel. It doesn't have to be wood, but just not glass.
Come on you creative decorators! Help me out here!
any table, legs cut to height
faux rock and old tiles...(paper mache)
old encyclopedias stacked,decoupaged or fabric/leather covered.
lobster traps
News papers stacked and bound for recycle and sheet of acyclic.
Can be stained even a color acyclic sheet for aging..
old tool boxes..old shoe shine boxes
wood ironing board cut down
wagon,sleds
old surf board
old shield of leather
water trough
Some hardware stores carry legs..
spindles make good legs too with some hardware.
plaster and hypertufa can be poured/mixed in a mould and carved as it cures or textured with fabrics or screen etc...
objects can be used for texture or pushed into the hypertufa.looks like old stone yet is light..
you can even make just the legs for the table from either of these or a table top...
