Can't have a space heater at work. Any alternatives to keep warm?
I am FREEEEEZING!!!
The vent is blowing cold air but is perfectly fine at the next office. Maintenance guys always say everything is as it should be and have apparently been saying so every winter for years so there is "nothing to fix". We can't plug in a space heater because they've tried it before and it shorted out the electrical.
So far, all we can do is wear extra layers (some have brought blankets from home 
) Warm coffee mugs and heat packs works, but we gotta type, too, so we can't do that all day. But it seems exceptionally colder today and we are going crazy.
Anyone else got any ideas on how to warm up? As in right now?
I have the same problem at work. Usually, I freeze in the winter. Doubling up on socks helps, as does extra layers on top. Obviously it's hard to type with gloves on and fingerless gloves just look silly.
When I need a quick warm up for my hands, I usually head to the bathroom, run the water until it gets hot and then bask in the warmth. Ha ha. Hand stretches also help. Try opening and closing your fists a few times. It gets the blood moving. 
I also try to get up and move around as much as possible. Instead of e-mailing someone three door down from my office, sometimes I just take a quick walk.
Another suggestion is getting a Parafin wax machine. You dip your hands into the wax, let it sit for a few minutes and then peel it off. A lot of doctors actually use this method to ensure they have warm hands. It also makes your hands incrediby soft.
