How to clean / deoderize a stainless steel thermos used for coffee?

I use it everyday - and rinse when empty - but coffee residue and stains still build up.
It's starting to affect the flavor of the coffee.

I've tried soaking in soapy water, white vinegar, and just letting it air out. It helps for a week or so, but the stains are still there, and the odor returns.

(The odor is just stale coffee, btw.)

put just a few tablespoons of bleach in the thermos, swish it around then fill with water and let set for about 10 minutes.
RINSE WELL AND MANY TIMES. (make sure you got all of the bleach out- you should not be able to smell any chlorine when done- use hot water)

I have done this to a 65 year old Stanley Aladdin Vacuum bottle and it is so shiny inside you can see your reflection in it

Alternatively, they do make vacuum bottle brushes for cleaning them out, but I have found those to not work well.
