Sony 8GB Micro Vault Thumb Drive?
I have a Sony 8GB Micro Vault Thumb Drive that I purchased today at Staples. Well I come home and am going to transfer some files with it to my other computer that (sadly) doesn't have wireless yet. Well I go to put a file on to it (the file size was roughly 4.2GB) and it says that the drive is full and to insert a different drive. Well I check the properties and it says I have 7.8 + some GB's left still open. So then I try a different batch of files that total around 3.2 GB's and It gets written to the drive.
Does anyone know whats wrong? Is it possible I have a 4GB drive that was faked as a 8GB? (That probably isn't right because Sony color coded their different sized micro vault drives)
Please help!
Hmm. Well I would try to format the thumb drive first. If the properties say it has 7.8GB then it's an 8GB.
Also, before you format, it might have ReadyBoost active and that might be using up to 4GB of space on the drive. What you can do is right click the drive under Computer and choose properties then the tab that says ReadyBoost, from there you can choose how much memory your computer can access. ReadyBoost is as close to removable ram as you can get, and if its active it can use up to 4GB of space. I would simply turn it off via the tab I mentioned and you should be okay.
