I have a 6 lbs roast and a 6 quart slow cooker. How long do i cook the roast for and how do i prepare it?

I am a single parent and have no experience with cooking with a crock pot (slow cooker) but very eager to try. I have a 6 lb pot roast and a 6 quart slow cooker. I would like for you to help me figure out what to do with the roast and how long do I cook it for? I am more so interested in slow cooking the roast. Please help me.

This is a VERY VERY delicious recipe. I'm sure you will like it;

2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 1/4 cups water
5 1/2 pounds pot roast

In a slow cooker, mix cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix and water. Place pot roast in slow cooker and coat with soup mixture.
Cook on High setting for 3 to 4 hours, or on Low setting for 8 to 9 hours.
