Do i need Jamaican or American Money in Jamaica?

i am going to jamaica in june and i wanted to know would it be better to take US currency or do i need to convert my money into JA? i have read a couple sites and it's all so confusing . never been out of the US so i am not familiar with converting money . any help would be appreciated .

Depends on where you plan to spend your time. If you'll be at a resort the entire time then by all means don't bother changing your US to JA currency. But if you plan to go into any of the non-tourist type places/stores it's best to have JA with you as you won't get a decent exchange rate at those places.

I suggest changing about $50 to $100 US into JA before you leave or at the Cambio in the airport or in a major bank. Keep the remainder of your money in US.
