Amazon's Bestselling Coffee Makers
If you are thinking of starting an online store or eBay business you must source your products as cheaply as possible. The cheaper that you are able to source your products, the more profit you are able to make.
There are plenty of places on the internet where you can source products for your business. Your choice of supplier will mainly depend on your personal preferences and type of business you are going to be running. One source of very cheap products is liquidation stock.
What is liquidation stock
There are a number of reasons products get liquidated. Liquidation stock can include overstocked items from larger retail chains, refurbished products, shelf pulls, used products, returns and even salvaged products. It is important to fully understand the condition of the liquidated products before you make a purchase. The condition can vary from new products that have never been opened, to products that are damaged beyond repair and can only be used for spare parts. Most liquidated stock may have some cosmetic defects, so be sure to check the exact condition before you buy.
Selling liquidation stock
The main benefit of selling liquidated stock is that it's available cheaply. You will however need to stock the products yourself and dispatch them. This gives you more control over the entire process than if you use a dropshipper.
One thing that you need to be aware of when dealing with liquidation stock is that this type of product source is not renewable. In other words, you can only purchase the amount available from your liquidation supplier and once it's gone, it's gone. As liquidation items are extremely cheap, they are very suitable for eBay sellers and large profits can be made if you know what you are doing. If you have an online store, you can also use the price of your liquidated products to draw the eye of your customer. Now you have your customers attention, you can increase your chances of selling your more profitable product lines by placing them next to your headline liquidated item.
Your ideal goal is to increase profits and minimise costs. This means that you always need to be on the lookout to make sure you get your hands on all of the bargains possible.
If you are purchasing liquidated stock for your online store, be careful not to stray out of your niche. An extremely cheap coffee maker purchased through liquidators would look strangely out of place on a website dedicated to sports equipment and would not help you sell your main product range.
Sources of liquidation stock
Manufacturers are an excellent source of liquidated stock. Manufacturers often over produce orders. Some buyers also let the manufacturer down by not completing their order, or there is some form of damage to packaging. The great benefit of sourcing from manufacturers is that the products are normally new, in their original packaging and with guarantees.
When looking for liquidated stock, also consider importers. There are lots of warehouses all over the country that are filled to the rafters with imported products that are currently unsold. The importer will be looking to get rid of some of these products to free up space in their warehouses. You will be able to find these profit sources quite easily and unlock them pretty quickly.
Packaging companies are also a good liquidation source. Sometimes brand name companies pay a packaging company to package their products. The company may then decide they don't like the packaging and the packaging company is left with a warehouse full of stock that they need to get rid of quickly. The products themselves are usually fine, as it's just the packaging that the brand name company had a problem with.
To find stock at one of these companies all you need to do is phone them up and spend time asking whether they have any stock that they need to dispose of. If they do then ask if it's possible to see any samples so that you know what you are buying. You will also need to take photographs of the products if you want to list them on eBay or in your online store.
If you are asked to pay for the samples then politely refuse, generally speaking companies that have stock they want to dispose of will be pleased to send free samples. When you get your hands on the samples you can then decide whether you are interested in the products.
Buying liquidation stock is a great way to get a bargain for your business and increase your profit margins. However, please remember that successful online businesses will use a range of wholesale sources, and your liquidation products should be supplemented by products sourced from dropshippers, light bulk wholesalers and importers. Follow this golden rule and you can build a sustainable business with high profit margins.
Good luck!
