Can anyone answer this question about roasted chicory?

I bought a can of fake coffee at the health food store. It is called teeccini. You put it in your coffee maker like ground coffee. I really love it. It is made from roasted chicory and barley. But I don't feel totally comfortable drinking it because I wonder if I am getting a lot of carcinogenes because the grains are roasted so dark brown. Am I being ridiculous?

I seriously doubt you need to worry about carcinogens.
