How can I buy real coffee bean beads?
I have tried to make them myself but couldn't drill a small enough hole before it cracked and fell apart.
Is your goal to find roasted or unroasted (green) coffee?
If you want roasted beans, many local micro-roasteries will have junk beans that kind baristas will give away for art projects (I know I did!)
If you want green coffee in very small quantities, again begging your local micro-roastery for scraps will be your best bet, but if you'd like larger quantities, Sweet Maria's is the best small-bag importer I've found.
I don't know what sort of aesthetic you're going for, but strictly from a mechanical standpoint, a lightly roasted bean will hang together much better than a fully roasted one. Also, the best way I've found of stringing coffee is with a needle and fishing line. They're way too brittle to drill out (properly).
